He's doing so well lately. When Yakari came to us we were not allowed to touch his back without him jumping 2 meters aside. Now I can ride him bareback, get on him from the fence without a problem. He's such a calm mind. He's already a once in a lifetime horse! Can't wait for the future with this guy. In the video we're working on suppleness, first halfsteps to piaffe (he finds this really difficult, groundwork; gaining respect on the ground and riding bareback practicing bends. For the suppleness he's wearing a bitless bridle, I ask him to cirkel around me with a little bit of tension to the inside. Sometimes he offers me to canter on the cirkel, I reward that even if you does one step in canter. When I sit on Yakari there is one clip that I ask his head to my hand. You can simply to this with a horsecandy in your hand. This helps him to bend is neck. Also I'm asking to move his hindquarters to the fence and his front towards me. This is great for the body, he learns to control both sides of his body from eachother. The first steps to piaffe is a difficult exercise! You can see him searching for his respond to the cue I'm giving by his tail moving. I ask him to move his hindlegs one by one. It's just the beginning and we working on since two days ago. So I'm already proud what he's giving me! Riding bareback is just riding some bends, figures and him being forward. He was a bit slow that day but that's ok because he already did a lot! Groundworking, gaining respect. I ask him to move around me, giving him cues to move forward, asking him to "come here". I will upload a video soon of me working with Yakari & Topshot. A bit goofing around but with explaination. I found the footage the day before yesterday. It's from 5 weeks ago. Hope you liked this video! - Owner of five horses, The lucky five!
