The village is world-famous for its spectacular Niouc Bridge (also known as the Pont de l’Araignée or Spider Bridge), which is one of the highest suspension bridges in Europe. The adrenaline-pumping highlight: The Spider Bridge The bridge spans the Navisence Gorge at a dizzying height of 190 meters and is 220 meters long. It was originally built in 1922 to transport water through a canal. Today, it serves as an absolute hotspot for extreme sports: • Bungee jumping & pendulum jumps: The brave can plunge into the depths in free fall with Bungy Niouc. • Zipline: A massive zipline spans the deep gorge. • Bridge Crossing: For those with a head for heights, crossing the swaying wooden planks—just 50 cm wide—costs CHF 5.— (used for bridge maintenance). Other Activities in Niouc • Via Ferrata: An extremely exposed via ferrata runs directly beneath the suspension bridge. Rated D+ (very difficult), it is recommended only for experienced climbers. • Hiking: The region offers beautiful routes, such as the historic trail along the Bisse de Ricard or short hikes to the local drinking water spring.
