Who Were the DEAD People Who Rose When Jesus Died?

In this video, we follow Matthew's wording carefully and separate what the Bible clearly says from what remains interpretation or speculation. 📖 KEY VERSE Matthew 27:52–53 “The tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus' resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.” IN THIS VIDEO ▸ What Matthew actually says happened when Jesus died ▸ Who the “saints” or “holy ones” may have been ▸ Why Scripture never gives us their names ▸ Whether they were raised before Jesus or after His resurrection ▸ Why the phrase “after His resurrection” matters ▸ Why the raised saints entered Jerusalem ▸ What “appeared to many people” may tell us about the event ▸ Possible connections to Ezekiel 37, Isaiah 26, and Daniel 12 ▸ Why Matthew is the only Gospel writer to record this scene ▸ What happened to these people afterward ▸ Why we should not assume they ascended with Jesus or received glorified bodies ▸ What the opened tombs may reveal about the meaning of Jesus' death and resurrection Matthew gives us an extraordinary event but very few personal details. That may be the clue. Perhaps the main point was never to identify every person who came out of the tombs. Perhaps Matthew wants us to notice something larger. When Jesus dies, graves open. After Jesus rises, the dead come out. For a brief moment, the future hope of resurrection seems to break into the present. 💬 Why do you think Matthew includes this event without telling us the names of the people who were raised?
