Episode Thirteen. "Unlucky for some" Join Artist Wayne & Jacqui, the dynamic duo of caravanning as they hit the road indefinitely in search of adventure, new experiences & wonderful friendships throughout beautiful Australia. In this episode we travel from the beautiful Menindee Lakes, a place that felt like home, to the Living Desert just 12 Kilometres from Broken Hill. The Living Desert is Broken Hill City Council’s contribution to the environment, for the protection of native flora and fauna and for the better management of our ecosystem and sustainability. The Living Desert is nestled amongst the Barrier Ranges and is located 12km from the City of Broken Hill. It is a unique 2400ha reserve which was established in 1992. On top of the highest hill inside the reserve are the 12 sandstone sculptures, created in 1993 by a group of artists from all over the world, which are now one of the top attractions in Outback NSW and a visual representation of Broken Hill's marriage of art & nature. The John Simons Flora & Fauna Sanctuary (established in 2002) is breathtaking and can be enjoyed via the numerous walking trails providing close encounters with wild life and magical views from numerous look outs. The Starview Campsite has opened in 2017 and provides unpowered sites for RV's and a large tent site in a tranquil setting. Parking is available at the picnic area or the car park at the top of the sculpture hill. Please follow the signs.
