Kyle Larson pulled it off. After racing the NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400 at Richmond — where he snapped a slump with a sixth-place finish. Larson bolted from his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, jumped on a plane, and flew straight to Knoxville Raceway, arriving in time to start the A-Main of the 65th Knoxville Nationals. We were there for the moment the two-time NASCAR Cup champion and three-time Knoxville Nationals winner rolled in.
For once, the weather worked in Larson's favor. A rain delay pushed back Championship Saturday just enough to open the window for the double — a bit of poetic justice after rain denied his Indianapolis 500 / Coca-Cola 600 double back in 2024. Larson came into the night atop the preliminary points in the Paul Silva-owned No. 57 after wheeling from eighth to win Thursday's qualifying night, so a spot in the $200,000-to-win finale was waiting for him if he could just get there in time.
He got there. Watch Kyle Larson arrive at the Sprint Car Capital of the World after one of the wildest travel days in recent motorsports memory.
