First Nations advocates call for passage of Bill S-2 – October 21, 2026

NDP Indigenous affairs critic Leah Gazan, Conservative MP Billy Morin and Bloc Québécois MP Marilène Gill join First Nations women and human rights advocates at a news conference on Parliament Hill to call for the passage of Bill S-2, which addresses discrimination in Indian Act registration rules. Other speakers include Zoe Craig-Sparrow (Justice for Girls), Sharon McIvor (Indigenous rights advocate), Jeannette Corbiere Lavell (Indigenous rights advocate), Chief Marilyn Slett (Heiltsuk Tribal Council) and Ketty Nivyabandi (Amnesty International Canada).
