Interview with Laura K. Field for CJPP, Sept. 17, 2026

Laura K Field is Scholar in Residence at the Niskanen Center in Washington DC. She is the author of Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right (Princeton UP, 2025), which examines how the political moment surrounding Donald Trump’s 2016 election reshaped the American conservative intellectual landscape, creating space for a network of academics, public intellectuals, and influencers who exert significant influence in the Trump administration. Furious Minds has received wide acclaim and numerous awards, including a Best Book of the Year recognition from the Financial Times, and the Best Book Award (for American Political Thought) from the American Political Science Association. It has also received many reviews in major periodicals, including the New York Times, The Atlantic, and the New York Review of Books. Dr. Field sits down with Paul Corey (Humber Polytechnic) to discuss Furious Minds in connection with a number of topics, including the current state of Canadian politics, the search for a more “robust” liberalism, the future of liberal education, the recent effort by some on the left to disassociate themselves from “woke,” and the controversy over Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey. Recorded on September 17, 2026, for the Canadian Journal of Political Philosophy, Volume 1, No. 2.
