Stop Selling $2 Cards on eBay & What 2,100 Sold Card Lots Reveal

Selling $1–2 sports card singles on eBay barely pays. After fees, ad rate, postage and supplies, a $1.99 card nets about $1.04. We pulled ~2,100 recently sold sports card lots on eBay (Oct 13, 2026) to find out what actually sells: what lot size holds value, which themes move, what shipping buyers will pay, and the real profit math. Key takeaways • Small, focused lots (3–10 cards) hold the most value per card. Past ~25 cards, per-card value collapses • Basketball lots: $4.30/card at 2–5 cards → $0.35/card at 100+ • Numbered and graded lots sell through fastest; generic team/base lots are slow • A 10-card lot at $24.99 nets ~$18.90 vs $1.04 for a $1.99 single • The 3-tier plan: $8+ singles · $1–7 named cards into 3–10 card lots · commons in 100+ lots or local Chapters 0:00 Escape the $2 hamster wheel 1:54 The data: 2,100 sold eBay lots 2:51 Trap: 25% of lots sell under $5 3:21 Median lot prices by type 4:09 Price per card collapses as lots grow 5:18 Why buyers pay for curation 7:42 Lot themes that sell (real sales) 9:55 What sells through fastest 10:58 Should you "salt" team lots? 12:38 Shipping: Standard Envelope vs Ground Advantage 14:27 eBay fees explained 15:14 The profit math: single vs lot vs bulk 16:26 The toll booth: saving your time 17:34 The 3-tier plan for your bulk 20:18 Photos, titles & bundle discounts 21:34 Caveats: snapshot, not a price guide 22:58 Bonus: buying other sellers' bulk Notes & corrections • Data is one-day snapshot of eBay sold listings (Oct 13, 2026). Use it to decide how to group cards, and comp your key cards before pricing. • USPS holiday pricing runs Oct 4, 2026 – Jan 17, 2027 (the audio says Jan 7). • Standard Envelope's $20 limit and size rules are eBay/USPS program rules, not laws. • Fees assume an eBay Store (12.35% trading card FVF + $0.30/$0.40 per order) and a 5% promoted listing rate.
