A slow, solo summer day exploring Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of Germany's best-preserved medieval towns, and somewhere I hadn't been back to in 15 years. In this video: the fully intact medieval city wall, Plönlein (the most photographed corner in town), an antique shop full of second-hand books, a local Tauber Valley winery, the Schneeball pastry taste test, St. James' Church and the Riemenschneider altar, and the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas store, open all year, even at 34°C outside. Rothenburg ob der Tauber has been protecting its historic look since 1902, even brand-new shops are legally required to blend into the old town style. It's part of Germanys Romantic Road and was founded in 1170.
