The drill did not move the London Eye directly. Instead, it powered a hydraulic pump, which generated the pressure needed to operate a specially developed hydraulic winch. The winch was then able to move the London Eye by 2 metres, turning a compact cordless power tool into the key part of an extraordinary engineering system.
