FFA Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre - People behind the scenes

The people behind Pacific fisheries maritime surveillance Much of the work to protect our Pacific fisheries happens behind the scenes. Every day across the region, fisheries compliance officers, surveillance and intelligence analysts, maritime officers, police and security personnel work across borders and agencies to detect, deter and respond to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and maritime domain awareness (MDA). At FFA’s Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre (RFSC), that collective effort comes together – connecting people, information, intelligence, technology and surveillance capabilities across our 17 FFA Members and Partners. Regional Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) for over 47 years is ultimately powered by people. People monitoring our waters. People analysing information. People flying surveillance missions and patrolling at sea. People boarding and inspecting fishing vessels. People developing the systems. People educating and passing on the knowledge to others. People empowering industry awareness and compliance. And people coordinating the regional response. This video recognises those working behind the scenes, across our Members and partners, whose commitment and cooperation help protect the Pacific’s shared fisheries resources and regional security. Across the region. At sea, in the air and behind the screens. Working together for our Pacific fisheries.
