What if the Roman Empire at its peak faced Genghis Khan's Mongol army? Rome vs the Mongols is the fight that never happened, and in this video we break down who would really win. We pit Trajan's Rome (legions, forts, roads, supply lines) against the Mongol war machine of Genghis Khan and Subutai (horse archers, fresh horses, fake retreats). Then we look at the real battle that hints at the answer: Carrhae in 53 BC, where Roman legions were destroyed by horse archers. We test Rome and the Mongols on open steppe, on Roman soil, and against disease and logistics. The verdict may not be what you expect. ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 The battle that haunts this matchup 0:55 The problem: Rome and the Mongols never overlapped 2:03 Fighter one: the Roman legion 3:56 Fighter two: the Mongol war machine 6:05 Carrhae: when Rome met horse archers 8:20 Round one: Rome vs the Mongols on the steppe 9:58 The smart Roman plan: forts, forests and walls 11:23 The hidden killer: disease and the Silk Road 12:18 The verdict: who wins? 13:52 The ending that changes the question 🗣 YOUR TURN Who wins, Rome or the Mongols?
