Important Note: After posting, I learned that open fires are not allowed anywhere around Big Bear unless it’s inside a Forest Service–provided fire ring. The small fire in this video was not in one of those designated spots, and that was a mistake on my part from following other's fire debris.
I want to be clear — please always check and follow local fire regulations before you head out. California’s forests are extremely dry, and it doesn’t take much for a wildfire to start. The last thing any of us want is to put the land, wildlife, or communities at risk.
If you’re camping in Big Bear or any national forest:
Only build fires in official Forest Service fire rings.
Carry a fire extinguisher or plenty of water, just in case.
I’ll do better moving forward, and I hope this serves as a reminder for anyone watching to respect the rules and keep our outdoors safe.

I captured my experience at Big Bear, California, as I take on two major challenges in my second gen Toyota Tacoma: conquering two infamous trails: 3N69 Gold Mountain trail & 3N07A "The Squeeze" and embarking on my first-ever solo camping trip.
