Jubilee Line Trains on March 23rd 2018 Part 1

Jubilee Line Trains filmed at Stratford, West Ham, Canning Town, North Greenwich, Canary Wharf and Canada Water All Jubilee Line Trains are formed of a 7 car 1996 Stock introduced on the line between Christmas Eve 1997 and July 2001 built by GEC Alstom and Metro Cammell now today Alstom. Stratford opened in 1839 by the Eastern Counties Railway is today the busiest stations outside London with the nearby bus stations both Stratford and Stratford City, Westfield Shopping Centre and also nearest to the Olympic Stadium. Services are provided by the DLR from Canary Wharf and Stratford International, London Overground’s North London Line, Central Line, TFL Rail, Greater Anglia both on the Great Eastern and West Anglia Lines via Lea Bridge. A new footbridge spanning over the Great Eastern Mainline, Central and North London Line platforms along with a new ticket hall was opened on September 13th 2011 to provide access to Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre. Between Stratford and Canning Town the Jubilee Line follows the course of the former freight lines, which closed in 1994. Also since 2011 two new stations on the DLR have been provided with the first being Stratford High Street which south the line passes Stratford Market Depot the main stay of Jubilee Line trains which was constructed on the site of a former Fruit and Vegetable Market. On the south side the 2nd new station of the DLR is Abbey Wood although not to be confused with the name of Abbey Road Studios with that being located near St. John’s Wood. West Ham opened in 1901 under the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway now todays C2C whilst District services began running in 1902 to East Ham. It was renamed in 1924 as West Ham (Manor Road) although the suffix fell out of use along with the LTS platforms in 1969. In 1979 platforms opened on what was known as the Crosstown Linkline between Camden Road and North Woolwich, which now today occupied by DLR. The station was completely rebuilt for the Jubilee Line in 1999, which also enabled the former LTS platforms to be brought back into use. Canning Town first opened on the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway as Barking Road on June 14th 1847 on the south side of Barking Road itself. Present location dates from 1888. The DLR began running here on March 28th 1994 to Beckton. The station was closed between June 6th 1996 and March 5th 1998 to enable construction of the Jubilee Line station. Today’s layout is that interchange is provided by the DLR with the upper platforms used by services to Woolwich Arsenal and Beckton whilst the low level platforms is now used by DLR services to Stratford International. North Greenwich has 3 platforms with Platforms 1 and 3 used by through trains whilst platform 2 is used for terminating services in either direction from Stratford or most times from Stanmore. The reason for this was for provision of a possible future 2nd branch to the Royal Docks however it’s likely it may never happen. At the time of opening it abled passengers to visit the Millennium Dome, which today now is the O2 area. It was the terminus for 4 months until September 17th when the line was extended to Bermondsey. The station is actually located closer to Charlton rather than Greenwich itself with the likely explanation of the Name of today’s station is because it’s location being on the northernmost tip of the Royal borough of Greenwich. Today as well as access to the nearby bus station, there is also connections to the Emirates Air Line opened on June 28th 2012. Canary Wharf designed by Norman Foster is the largest station on the line and also the 2nd busiest station outside London after Stratford with over 50 million people passing through every year. 2 entrances with the western side dating from when first opened whilst the eastern entrance dates from 2004. It's provides interchange with DLR services to Bank, Stratford and Lewisham. In 2013 a YouGov Poll voted Canary Wharf being London’s Most Loved Station. At the time of filming a new Crossrail station of Canary Wharf located on the other side near West India Quay is largely completed and was to open in December 2018 with services being provided from Abbey Wood however since filming the date was pushed back. Canada Water is located on the site of the former Surrey Commercial Docks, which closed in 1969. Today provides interchange London Overground’s East London Line, which took over from LUL in 2010. The latter when was part of London Underground in fact closed from March 1995 to September 1998 to enable Brunel’s Thames Tunnel between Wapping and Rotherhithe to be strengthened by shotcreting. These also at the same time enabled works for the new station to be carried out.
