There was some loss of detail in the dynamics and the finger weighting was occasionally uneven, but the accents were mostly defined and the communication was largely effective. The control of the pulse was not always secure, and there was some slight tonal blurring at times, which detracted from the communication, but some performance details were realised. Marks: 6/6/7 = 19 (22) Technical Work: The notes were accurate in the scale patterns, and the dynamic and articulation parameters were observed. However, the tone did not always speak reliably in the staccato requests. Ex 1c was delivered musically, with good tone, balance and voicing. The articulation was keenly observed in Ex 3c and note finding was accurate, although there were occasional blemishes in the finger placement. Marks: = 13 (14) Performance Delivery and Focus: This was a well-prepared and confidently presented performance with well-maintained focus and slick transitions on the whole. Marks: = 9 (10) Musical Awareness: There was a good level of commitment in this examination, with largely convincing movement between the various musical styles.
