In this first episode of The Queer Perspective we discuss the animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) by the Walt Disney Company. We delve into what being Queer meant in the 1930s and discuss what it was like for those who were Queer in the 16th century where the film is often claimed to be set as well as what it was like in 1937 Germany. This episode does contain discussions of subject matter that may be uncomfortable for some listeners including queerphobia, misogyny, and hate groups such as the Nazis and the KKK and their impact on the Queer community. This is not intended to be upsetting or for shock value, it is said for historical context and purposes.
