Electric Motor on My Boat - Pros and Cons of 48V and 12V?

"Jeff, I have been thinking about installing electric motors on my 37-foot ketch, with solar charging eventually. I have seen YouTube sailors who have a 48V bank for the motor and a separate 12V bank for the house loads, and others who run both off a single 48V bank.
