The Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 is one of the longest passenger aircraft ever built, measuring nearly 75 metres in length and recognisable by its distinctive four-engine design. Lufthansa introduced the type in 2003, deploying it on long-haul services connecting Frankfurt and Munich with destinations across North America, Asia and beyond. Known for its impressive size, long-range capabilities and spacious cabin, the A340-600 became a familiar sight on Lufthansa’s intercontinental routes. However, with the airline modernising its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft, this iconic quadjet is approaching the end of its Lufthansa career, marking the farewell of a memorable chapter in the airline’s long-haul history.
