Is Drake Pop or Hip-Hop? Reacting to Yasiin Bey's Comments | Rap Life Review

In this week's episode of Rap Life Review, Ebro, Lowkey, and Eddie dive into new music from 21 Savage, Kid Cudi, and the official soundtrack from ’The Book of Clarence’. The group breaks down the trailer from 21 Savage's upcoming movie ‘american dream: the 21 savage story’ and the album accompanying the movie, ‘american dream’. The guys then get into a clip of Yasiin Bey, also known as Mos Def, saying that Drake makes “music for Target” and is pop, not hip-hop. This spurs a debate around what genre Drake actually falls in. The episode wraps up with a review of Rolling Stone's top rap songs of 2023 list, where they named Sexyy Red’s “SkeeYee” as #1.
