Day 279 — BE a Multiplier | Pastor Kerry Francis | October 10, 2026
A Year in Freedom Daily Devotional | NFCM House of Freedom
Here's news worth sitting with: you were never meant to be the end point. Everything God has built in you — the listening, the hearing, the doing, the discipleship, the witness, the perseverance — none of it was designed to stop with you. You're not the destination. You're the transfer point.
In today's devotional, Pastor Kerry Francis unpacks Paul's charge to Timothy: the things you've heard from me, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Count the generations in that one sentence — Paul to Timothy, Timothy to reliable people, those people to others. What Paul carried was built to travel through him to people he'd never meet. That's multiplication, not addition. Addition says I'll do the work and add more effort when needed. Multiplication says I'll build people who build people, until what God gave me reaches places I'll never go.
And notice the Great Commission doesn't say make converts. It says make disciples. Converts are decisions; disciples are people being formed — and formation requires proximity, intentionality, and someone willing to let another person close enough to watch how they live, not just hear how they speak.
Pastor Kerry also names what stops us. Believing your gift is too unique, your story too personal, your experience too specific to transfer — that isn't humility. It's hoarding. Don't be the listener who never teaches anyone to listen, or the finisher who crosses the line and never turns back to run alongside someone still in the middle of their race.
Look at how Jesus did it: three years with twelve people. He ate with them, traveled with them, let them watch Him handle pressure, grief, and temptation, and corrected them specifically rather than generically. Those twelve turned the world upside down — because what was in Him got into them through nearness and intention.
So who is already close to you and has received nothing deliberate from you? Proximity without intention is just being near. Turn toward someone and say: what God built in me, I'm depositing in you — what I learned the hard way, you don't have to. And aim for the last phrase of Paul's charge: qualified to teach others. Not dependence, but capacity. That's what legacy really is — not what you built, but what kept building after you.
Key Scriptures: 2 Timothy 2:2, Matthew 28:19–20, Mark 3:14, Acts 17:6
