She left Ethiopia at a very young age, hoping to work and build a better future for herself and her family. However, the reality she encountered was far more difficult than she had imagined. During her time abroad, she faced numerous challenges. The workload was overwhelming, and there were times when she struggled emotionally, cried, and experienced difficult situations while working in the household of her employer. 😢 For four long years, she says she remained inside the house, working without going outside. Imagine spending four years of your life confined to a house, working day after day, facing emotional struggles, and missing the freedom to go outside and enjoy the world around you. For a young woman far away from her family and home, such an experience can be incredibly painful. In this video, she opens up about the difficult moments she experienced, the struggles she endured, and the lessons she learned throughout her journey. 🇪🇹 Now, she has returned to Ethiopia and reunited with her family. After everything she went through, she is finally back in her homeland, where she can be close to her loved ones again. When we met her in Jimma, we wanted to give her an opportunity to share her story so that others could hear her experiences and learn from them. ❤️ WHY DID WE MAKE THIS VIDEO? This video is not just about one woman's personal experience. It is also intended to raise awareness among Ethiopians, especially young girls and women who are considering traveling to Arab countries for domestic work. Many Ethiopians travel abroad in search of better opportunities, hoping to support their families and improve their lives. While some may find positive opportunities, others may encounter difficult working conditions, emotional distress, isolation, and challenges they never expected.
