Assessment of a Bechstein model A grand piano c1908 + Frame cracks:

Frame cracks are common on Bechstein model A grand pianos made from 1902 to about 1915. They normally occur near the tuning pins as shown in the video. These rarely cause problems with tuning but when we fully restore the piano we stitch-weld them. This Bechstein grand has another crack that is extremely uncommon and while it might be possible to pitch raise the piano and tune it without causing instability, we recommend repairing this too.
