Hiking to Connecticut's HIGHEST POINT (Mt. Frissell, Round Mountain, & Tri-State Marker) Did you know the highest point in Connecticut isn't actually a mountain summit? In this video, we tackle a rugged, multi-state adventure through the Taconic Range to stand at the top of the Nutmeg State—located on the southern slope of Mount Frissell at 2,379 feet! Our journey begins at the Mount Frissell Trailhead in Massachusetts. From there, we take on some intense Class 2 rock scrambling up and over the exposed summit of Round Mountain, push through the dense mountain laurel to the wooded summit of Mt. Frissell, and locate the official USGS marker pin for the Connecticut State Highpoint. But we didn’t stop there! We also hiked further down the trail to stand on the historic Tri-State Line Marker, a unique granite monument marking the exact geographic border intersection where Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York all meet. If you love Northeast hiking, state highpointing, or unique geographic landmarks, this challenging day hike is a must-add to your bucket list!
