This Carrier AC Was SCREAMING for Help | Condenser fan motor swap

The homeowners weren’t even home when their AC started screaming — luckily, their neighbor heard it. This is their secondary home here in Florida while they live in New York, and their neighbor noticed the outdoor unit making an extremely loud screeching noise. They shut the system down before things had a chance to get worse. When I arrived, it didn’t take much diagnosing to hear exactly where the problem was coming from: the Carrier condenser fan motor bearings were DONE. Since the motor was still under warranty, I returned a couple days later with the replacement and got the system back up and running. The interesting part? While I was there, I could already hear the condenser fan motor bearings starting to make noise on their other unit too. 👀 That one may be next… Sometimes your best HVAC diagnostic tool is simply your ears.
