MidCoast Recycling

We’re up on the mid north coast of NSW in this video, which is the third and final instalment of my Midcoast Regional Contract series. Initially, I threw up a video of truck 0691 doing the rural garbage pick-up on Oxley and Mitchell Islands, followed by truck 0697 on green waste in Hawks Nest. This upload features the fortnightly recycling collection, with JR Richards & Sons unit 0694 seen knocking over the first load in the quiet town of Old Bar on a Friday morning way back in winter 2013. Many thanks go to the friendly operator for being cool with the camera and for keeping up a steady pace between the yellow lid bins. This is a bit of a longer video I created, which will hopefully satisfy those who appreciate this ACCO generation and JJRE equipment which is almost non-existent. Back in November 2009 a regional collection contract started between Great Lakes, Greater Taree and Gloucester Councils, with JR Richards & Sons appointed to handle the job, being a task the company has looked after for many years in this region. In 2016 these three LGAs merged together to form MidCoast Council, which only meant business as usual for the existing waste services agreement. JRR deployed 15 brand new side loaders for this operation, all painted in this green and having identical signage, including some big bodies for recycle and mainly smaller ones for garbage and greens. I believe most of these original side lift vehicles are still working today and will continue to for a while yet, with this significant council contract ultimately extended to the middle of 2024.
