"Handsome Devil" (2017) (Movie Review with Spoilers)

"Handsome Devil" is an Irish film written and directed by John Butler, it stars: Fionn O'Shea, Nicholas Galitzine, Michael McElhatton, Moe Dunford and Andrew Scott. This film introduces us to Ned, he is just starting another year at his rugby-obsessed boarding school. At first he is delighted to know he won't be having a roommate but soon after he discovers that Conor, a rugby star who had been expelled from another school would be the one to share a room with him. Both Conor and Ned seem baffled to be sharing a room in the beginning but not long after their first real conversation they initiate a friendship that leads them to learn they're not as different as they think and no one person should be forced to fit into the one dimensional role they are "supposed" to be in. Filled with real life subjects such as bullying, high expectations, shame-filled secrets and teen confusion, "Handsome Devil" provides us with everything that is expected of a film like this, and more. There could not have been a better soundtrack to accompany this unforgettable film, the acting was flawless by each and every one of the actors and the writing and directing is also nothing short of spectacular. Every single member of the crew deserves a huge thumbs up! After re-watching this film about a dozen more times I decided to re-review it as I felt the previous review I did for it did not do it any justice. This movie grew on me time and time again, transporting me back to my own days in school and making me relate to every scenario that played out, it destroyed the continental boundaries and made me feel like it was just another school day in the US while still allowing me to appreciate the great beauty (and talent) that Ireland has to offer. I don't see myself ever getting tired of watching this film and I would really recommended to anyone interested in it. #handsomedevil My personal rating is: 10/10 Thanks for watching!
