Subscribe to the Evans Health Lab newsletter on Substack. Evidence based, illustrated, and occasionally funny. https://drmikeevans.substack.com In this video, I start to chip away at the big, messy topic of stress. In it, we cover different strategies to help you think about the way you think, including the evidence for cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. We also cover three traits - commitment, control, and openness to change - that showed up again and again in people who weathered upheaval well. Quick note: this video is about a decade old, so it doesn't cite the most recent studies and there has been lots more quality research on the causes and effects of stress as well as methods to manage it. The core idea holds up though: you can't control the traffic, the boss, or the bad news, but you can shift how you think about it, and hopefully this video can help you get started.
