DOWNLOAD NOW: https://unmatchedgames.com/ Lichtblick V1.1 OMSI 2 turns thirteen this year. The modding community is still producing lots of amazing content. Everything about OMSI 2 has aged gracefully — except the renderer. Lichtblick (German: "ray of light," "silver lining") fixes that. It's a drop-in mod that sits between OMSI and your GPU, intercepting the game's rendering calls and quietly upgrading them in flight. No game files are modified. No content packs are touched. No new launcher, no modified exe. V1.1 is still an early release, and deliberately focused. The goal is the same as it was for V1 — feedback, finding the rough edges on maps, buses and GPUs before the bigger structural features waiting in the queue. What's new since V1 is a complete wet-weather pass, plus the mod now manages OMSI's overlapping options for you. New in V1.1 — weather Wet-road reflections. When it rains, asphalt turns reflective: streetlights, headlights, brake lights and scenery streak down the road the way real wet tarmac does. It's gated on OMSI's live weather — fading in as the roads soak and fading back out as they dry, so there's no cost on a clear day. Puddles, animated rain-drop ripples, and a tiling asphalt normal/roughness map keep it grounded instead of a flat mirror. Falling rain. Procedural, layered rain that replaces OMSI's flat particle sheets. Parallax streaks that are depth-occluded — rain slants backward as you pick up speed, leaning through turns. Rain on the glass. Animated drops on the windscreen that stick to the glass, refract the scene behind them, run down into rivulets, and react to the bus's movement — replacing OMSI's static drop texture. All three are gated to real rain: they stay off in clear weather and in snow. Automatic option management. Lichtblick now switches OMSI's overlapping built-in effects off for you — enable godrays and it unticks OMSI's Sun Glow; enable wet-road reflections and it unticks OMSI's own Rain Reflections — so the effects never double up. (In V1 you had to do this by hand.) Also included — the V1 foundation Anti-aliasing. FXAA 3.11 Preset 3 cleans up shader-output aliasing and thin edges. Screen-space ambient occlusion. Contact shadows under vehicles, in corners, beneath foliage, and along the long oblique surfaces OMSI maps are full of. Godrays. Sun shafts traced from the captured depth buffer. When the sun cuts through trees or between apartment blocks, you'll see it. AGX tonemapping + auto-exposure. AGX is the same modern filmic tonemap Blender adopted as its default — the successor to ACES that finally stops bright reds turning orange and saturated greens turning yellow when they clip. Out of the box, OMSI does no tonemapping at all: anything brighter than 100% just slams to white. Pair it with auto-exposure — eye adaptation borrowed from real photography — and the camera handles the dynamic range of a real day on a real route. Pulling out of a sunlit Hauptbahnhof into a dim depot, your eyes adjust over a second or two; with auto-exposure on, the screen does the same. True HDR pipeline. Internal scene rendering is promoted to A16B16G16R16F, so linear values above 1.0 survive to post-process — the tonemap finally has real HDR data to work with instead of clipped LDR. sRGB linear-space lighting. Per-texture sRGB classification plus D3DRS_SRGBWRITEENABLE on every draw. The result: colours that feel right, mid-tones that don't wash out, and lighting math that happens in the colour space the math actually expects. Anisotropic filtering + LOD bias. Forces 16× anisotropy and a configurable mip-bias. Distant road markings, building textures and station signage stay sharp. How V1.1 ships A fresh install drops the mod into your OMSI directory. On first launch, Lichtblick writes a short lichtblick.ini with just the user-facing on/off knobs — anisotropy, FXAA (and pass count), SSAO, godrays, wet-road reflections, falling rain and windscreen rain. Everything else is dialled in via curated internal defaults that have been tuned. No tweaking required. Compatible with… OMSI 2 base game. Steam, Aerosoft and standalone OMSI 2 installs are all targeted. Notes OMSI 2 base game is required. I advise spawning buses rather than taking over AI buses. Make sure your Nvidia Control Panel settings are set to application-controlled for Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering. Rain effects only activate in actual rain — snow isn't enhanced yet. The look of windscreen rain can vary depending on how a developer built the bus's windscreen (mesh and UVs). I can't guarantee this will work on every single map/bus. If you see issues with a particular mod/DLC, please let us know. Certain features can affect FPS — feel free to toggle off anything you don't want in the ini. To uninstall, go to Control Panel and find Lichtblick. provided as-is, no warranty, not liable for any damage/crashes
