Hydrix Limited CEO & Executive Chairman Gavin Coote was interviewed on ausbiz by Nadine Blayney, discussing the company's recent progress. Hydrix is positioning itself at the intersection of some of the market’s hottest themes—defence, robotics, medtech and advanced engineering—and Gavin says the business may be reaching a genuine inflection point. The company secured around $6.5 million in contracted revenue in the latest quarter, with 15 active clients representing a potential future revenue pipeline of more than $37 million. However, the bigger opportunity could be shifting from engineering services toward owning the intellectual property behind the technologies it helps develop. Gavin points to a rapidly expanding global defence market, including counter-drone technology, autonomous systems and GPS-denied navigation, as a major growth opportunity. Hydrix recently established a dedicated defence subsidiary and secured a $1.2 million counter-drone contract, alongside other defence technology wins. Importantly for investors, management says it can scale the defence opportunity largely within its existing cost base while pursuing IP through licensing, internal development and potential M&A. The ambition is broader than simply growing revenue: Hydrix wants to build valuable IP assets that can generate higher-margin revenue and potentially create additional shareholder value. With further revenue growth and new IP ownership opportunities flagged as key catalysts, the next 12 months could be pivotal.
