Beijing Subway Line 1 - Tiananmen East → Gongzhufen

Beijing Subway Line 1 is an east-west line running under Chang'an Avenue, the city's greatest east-west throughfare. It is the oldest subway line in Beijing and the oldest line in China completed in 1969, with its first portions opening in 1971. Line 1 ran from Beijing Railway Station to Gongzhufen when it was first completed in 1969, and was extended further west to Yuquanlu and Gucheng in August 1971 and November 1971, respectively. It was then extended further west to Pingguoyuan in 1973. In 1987, the line was extended east to Fuxingmen from Nanlishilu, and the line between Changchun Jie and Beijing Railway Station was integrated with Line 2. Line 1 was then extended further east to Xidan in 1992, and the Fuba line, running from Tiananmen West to Sihuidong was completed in 1999, which was then integrated into Line 1 in 2000 when the line between Xidan and Tiananmen West was completed. Line 1 and the Batong Line merged operations in August 2021, extending the line further east from Sihui East to Universal Resort. Line 1 uses a variety of trainsets, such as the DKZ4G by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, the oldest train on the Beijing Subway network, built in 1999. Newer rolling stock include the CRRC Qingdao Sifang Railway Vehicles SFM01/02/07, SFM04, and Beijing Subway Rolling Stock Equipment BDK06.
