Skipton Market is an historic, open-air street market running for over 800 years along the wide, cobbled High Street of the Yorkshire Dales gateway town. Operating under a medieval royal charter, independent traders assemble temporary stalls four days a week offering local food, crafts, and clothing.
Market Overview & Setup
• Days & Hours: Open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (with some food, fish, and produce stalls opening earlier).
• Location: Pitched on the historic "setts" (cobbled strips) flanking both sides of Skipton's wide High Street, right near Skipton Castle.
• Atmosphere: No fixed or permanent structures exist; traders build and pack down their individual stalls each morning and evening to preserve the authentic medieval look.
