By the afternoon of August 20, 1975, Elvis Presley had already completed three performances in what was intended to be a month-long engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton. Behind the scenes, however, it had become increasingly apparent that he was struggling physically. Although the decision to cancel the remainder of the season had not yet been made, this dinner show would prove to be the penultimate performance of Elvis' shortest Las Vegas engagement, leaving just one more concert before the curtain unexpectedly fell. Despite the circumstances, Elvis continued to embrace the relaxed atmosphere that had defined these "Request Box Shows." Rather than relying solely on his familiar concert formula, he revisited songs that had become genuine rarities on stage, giving each performance a unique identity. This dinner show features a particularly eclectic selection, from the operatic grandeur of "It's Now Or Never" to heartfelt performances of "And I Love You So," "Fairytale," and "Until It's Time For You To Go." One of the concert's most historically significant moments comes with "Green, Green Grass Of Home." Having been introduced into Elvis' live repertoire in March 1975, this performance would become the song's final known appearance on stage. Alongside "T-R-O-U-B-L-E," another song nearing the end of its brief concert life, the performance serves as a reminder that even during his final years, Elvis continued to experiment with his set lists rather than simply relying on familiar favorites. Although the request box itself is less prominent during this performance than in the previous evening's concerts, its influence is still evident in the willingness to depart from the standard program. The result is another show that feels personal and refreshingly unpredictable, reflecting an artist who remained committed to giving each audience something memorable despite the growing demands on his health. As with the other recordings from this engagement, the original audience tape presents the challenges typical of mid-1970s amateur recordings. For this SRB Records stereo remaster, extensive restoration has been undertaken to reduce tape noise, improve tonal balance, and create a fuller stereo presentation while preserving the authenticity of the original source. Every effort has been made to enhance the listening experience without compromising the atmosphere of the performance itself. "By Popular Request: The Request Box Shows, Vol. IV" captures the beginning of the final full day of Elvis Presley's August 1975 Las Vegas engagement. It stands as the calm before the inevitable conclusion, documenting a performer whose warmth, professionalism, and enduring connection with his audience continued to shine even as one of the most unusual engagements of his career drew to its premature end. 00:00 Also Sprach Zarathustra 00:57 See See Rider 04:36 I Got a Woman / Amen 09:18 Hound Dog 11:58 It's Now or Never 14:32 And I Love You So 18:10 Blue Suede Shoes 19:23 Green, Green Grass of Home 22:56 Fairytale 25:55 Softly As I Leave You 29:12 Band Introductions 31:28 Johnny B.
