Is there a polite way to end a friendship? Yes, but it depends entirely on which* friend you're walking away from. Here's how to do it without being cruel, cowardly, or the villain. In this video, I break down how to end a friendship respectfully. We start with how to work out whether you're dealing with a rupture(something happened) or a 'drift'' (you've simply outgrown each other), and the importance of owning your decision with integrity and your truth. Then we get into what to actually say. That covers how to word a friendship breakup text or conversation, why "maybe we'll reconnect someday" is crueller than a clean ending, and why the "I've just been so busy" excuse insults the other person twice. We also cover the part nobody talks about: the aftermath. That you can’t control their reactions, deciding whether to block, mute or unfollow, and allowing yourself to grieve a friendship even when ending it was the right call.
