Cade Klubnik’s performance in the New York Jets’ preseason finale against the New York Giants has made the team’s QB2 competition even more complicated. The rookie quarterback started the game, but finished with just 6 completions on 13 attempts for 59 yards, no touchdowns and one interception as the Jets suffered a 23–6 loss to the Giants. And now the biggest question is: Did Cade Klubnik just lose the QB2 job? Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has not officially named Geno Smith’s backup, leaving the competition open as New York prepares to finalize its roster. Klubnik entered training camp with plenty of attention after the Jets selected him in the fourth round, and there have been flashes throughout the preseason that showed why New York believes in his potential. But the preseason finale was a major opportunity. And unfortunately for Klubnik, he didn’t do enough to make the decision easy.
