DOS DU REGARD — THE BACK OF THE GAZE

Œuvre autonome tirée de NARCISSE, nouvelle série de LA MER COMME ÉCRAN, réalisée dans le cadre de la prochaine exposition ARTBOXY au Carrousel du Louvre. DOS DU REGARD explore l’image de celui qui ne se voit pas, à la frontière de ce qu’il pourrait voir de lui-même. Cette image le poursuit sans jamais croiser son visage, et sans que son visage la croise. D’un lieu à un autre. D’un miroir à un autre. La figure se penche comme pour adresser quelque chose. Depuis le rail ou le couloir, espaces et objets de regard, ce qui traverse rend sensible cette frontière : entre apparition et disparition, regard porté et regard retourné. THE BACK OF THE GAZE explores the image of someone who cannot see himself, at the threshold of what he might come to see of himself. This image follows him without ever meeting his face, and without his face ever meeting it. From one place to another. From one mirror to another. The figure bends forward as though trying to address something. From the railway track to the corridor, spaces and sites of looking, what passes through them makes this boundary perceptible: between appearance and disappearance, the gaze directed outward and the gaze turning back.
