“Porch Light” by WRDL – We R Da Light
Sometimes guilt tells us we've wandered too far to come home.
Porch Light is about the grace that says otherwise. The light is still burning. The way home is still visible. The Father has not stopped watching for us.
📖 Scripture Anchor — Luke 15:20
“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him…”
Grace doesn't wait coldly behind a locked door. In Jesus' story, the father sees his returning son and runs toward him.
Guilt couldn’t keep me.
Grace left the light on.
Same God. Same grace. The door is still open.
Dedicated to Homeboy. 🤍
May this song be a small porch light for anyone who needs to remember that grace has not closed the door.

📝 LYRICS
You don’t know where I’ve been.
You don’t know what I’ve done.
Don’t tell me there’s forgiveness
for somebody I’ve become.
I’ve been walking with this guilt,
looking for a place to rest.
Waiting on a sign or miracle
through days that weigh against my chest.
Kept looking toward the heavens
for something written in the sky.
Never noticed that old porch light
burning through another night.
Thought You’d left me in the darkness.
Thought I’d wandered out too far.
Then I realized You still hear me
right here in the dark.
There’s still a porch light burning,
though I’ve wandered miles away.
I kept thinking I should earn it,
kept waiting for the day
I’d be worthy of forgiveness,
I’d have paid for every scar.
There’s still a porch light burning.
Maybe I was never too far.
I can’t take back what I’ve done.
I can’t mend each broken heart.
I can’t change the words I’ve spoken.
I can’t undo the hurt I’ve caused.
Some walked out.
Some shut the door.
Some don’t want me anymore.
So I learned to keep my distance,
stopped letting people through the door.
Thought if no one got too close,
there’d be no one left to let down.
But somehow You kept sending people
when I thought no one was around.
Carrying their own little lights,
trying to make it through the night.
They never knew they helped me see
there was still another way to walk.
There’s still a porch light burning,
though I’ve wandered miles away.
I kept thinking I should earn it,
kept waiting for the day
I’d be worthy of forgiveness,
I’d have paid for every scar.
There’s still a porch light burning.
Maybe I was never too far.
I can’t go back and change the past.
“I’m sorry” won’t bring everybody back.
Grace was never meant
to hide my scars.
I sat beneath that porch light,
watching it fade against the night.
Then I raised my eyes…
and saw a field of stars.
I’d been counting every failure.
You already knew them all.
Grace wasn’t calling wrong things right.
You were calling me to turn.
Not to earn another chance.
Not to prove that I’m enough.
You saw repentance in the turning…
and kept the porch light on.
There’s still a porch light burning,
and I’m finally heading home.
I can’t change where I have been,
but I can change the road I’m on.
I won’t ask the ones I’ve wounded
to pretend there are no scars.
I’ll let the steps I take tomorrow
show the turning of my heart.
There’s still a porch light burning.
I don’t have to earn Your love.
Your mercy met me in the darkness.
Your grace was enough.
I thought I needed a miracle
written somewhere in the sky.
The porch light faded with the morning.
And this time…
I knew why.
