DEVA (데바) - D-honey

From the single “deva” released 29 November 2003. Many thanks to @/6VIXXs on Twitter for the following information: DEVA was a South Korean visual kei band formed sometime around 2001 by vocalist Hyuck, more commonly known as Lee Junhyuck (이준혁), and guitarist Yeonseong (연성). They recruited bassist Hena (헤나) and drummer Yeon (연) who were in a band together previously, thus establishing the first official lineup. They released their first single 성역(i.o.b) with this lineup. In the summer of 2002, they would recruit a second guitarist, Wooseok (우석) and begin work on their first album. However, Wooseok and Yeon would end up leaving the band in early 2003. After a hiatus, new members Jaehui (재희) and Jinsu (진수) would join on guitar and drums, respectively. They released their first and only album shortly after, ‘DEVA 1st free album,’ likely costing around 5000krw. On 24 September 2003, the band released an official disbandment notice, with final shows occurring on the 28th and 30th. However, the band continued activities for a little while after this notice, indicating that the announcement most likely referred to the departure of all members except Junhyuck and Jinsu rather than cessation of all activity. The band made their return on 12 December 2003 with new members Young (영) on guitar and Ishya (이샤) on bass. Ishya would end up leaving in February 2004 and was subsequently replaced by Junghyun (정현). DEVA officially disbanded around September 2004, with their final performance being cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
