The Great Commandment: Love God and Love Your Neighbour | 30th Sunday, Year A
What is the greatest commandment in the Bible? Is it enough to love God through prayer and worship, or must that love also be expressed in our relationship with others?
In this Konkani theological reflection on the Gospel of Matthew 22:34–40, Jesus gives us the heart of the Christian life: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” He then gives us the second commandment: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”
Jesus teaches us that love of God and love of neighbour cannot be separated. Our prayer must become compassion, our faith must become action, and our love for God must be visible in the way we treat others.
In this reflection, let us discover:
Why Jesus identifies love as the greatest commandment.
How the love of God and love of neighbour are inseparably connected.
Why the commandments are the foundation of the whole Law and the Prophets.
How we can live these two commandments in our families, communities, and daily lives.
May this Gospel help us examine our hearts and become people who do not merely speak about love but live it every day.
🙏 Watch, reflect, pray, and share this message with your family and friends.
