My happiest moment: this shy stray let me touch it tonight

I heard a soft meow on my way home late at night. I found a stray cat hiding behind a car. When I slowly approached, it lay down and tried to roll over. It looked so gentle. But it was still wary of people in the dark. It sniffed my hand and backed away, then hid under the car. I pulled out a cat treat. It carefully poked its head out to eat. It hunted for every little crumb on the ground. It finally let its guard down and let me pet its head. I was so happy at that moment, even though it stayed alert. One treat was not enough. I rushed back home to get cat food and clean water. When I returned, it had come out from under the car. I set down food and fresh water for this sweet shy kitty in the night. Hope every stray cat can find warmth on dark nights.
