What is D-Dimer?
D-Dimer is a fibrin degradation product, formed when a blood clot is broken down by fibrinolysis. It is a key biomarker for detecting abnormal clot formation and breakdown in the body.
🔎 Clinical Importance: Elevated D-Dimer levels indicate ongoing coagulation and fibrinolysis, making it a crucial test for diagnosing conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
