On 3 March 1627, Piet Heyn sailed his flagship in broad daylight into the Bay of All Saints in Brazil, under every gun of Salvador, and took 22 ships in under three hours. Part II follows the man behind it, from the Dutch Revolt and four years chained to a Spanish galley oar to Bahia, the Silver Fleet, and his death at sea in 1629.
Piet Heyn (Piet Hein), Part II: the Revolt, the galleys and Bahia, 1627. Part I: the Silver Fleet, 1628.
IN THIS FILM
• The Dutch Revolt in maps and period prints: the Council of Blood, Brielle, Haarlem, the flooding of Holland to relieve Leiden
• Heyn's boyhood in Delfshaven, the galleys of Sluis, Havana and his marriage to Anneke
• Bahia, 3–4 March 1627 in full 3D: the run-in, point-blank broadsides, the boarding, the Oranjeboom exploding and the Amsterdam burned
• Matanzas 1628, Heyn's last fight in 1629, and an alternate history: what if Spain had won?
