Firdaus Wong Wai Hung (pronounced HONG) ‪@FirdausWongWaiHungOfficial‬ is one of the most polarising figures in Malaysian public life — celebrated by some as a hero of dakwah and condemned by others as a divisive force. In this wide-ranging conversation, Victor sits down with the founder of MRM and Merdeka Times to cut through the noise and get to the man behind the controversy. From growing up in the notorious streets of Jinjang Utara, where gangsterism was as ordinary as morning traffic, to his unexpected conversion (reversion, he would say) to Islam in 2005 after years of clubbing and hard liquor, Firdaus tells his story with a disarming candour that challenges every assumption you might have walked in with. The conversation goes far deeper than biography.
