South Africa Weather Today Update Spring has officially arrived in South Africa according to the meteorological calendar, which marks the new season from 1 September—well before the astronomical spring begins at the equinox later in the month. This Spring Day brings cheerful weather for most, with sunshine and warm temperatures expected across much of the country. However, the South Coast will stay a bit chilly, winds are forecast to pick up in the western interior, and isolated thunderstorms may develop over sections of the Northern Cape Province and KwaZulu-Natal Province. Looking ahead, scattered showers and thunderstorms could stretch from Namibia through the Northern Cape Province, North West Province, Free State Province, Eastern Cape Province, and into KwaZulu-Natal Province, while cooler conditions linger in parts of the Western and Eastern Cape Province as well as southern KwaZulu-Natal Province.
