Florida plastic surgeon Dr. Tomasz Roman Kosowski is charged with first-degree murder in the 2023 disappearance and presumed death of attorney Steven Cozzi — a case involving a bitter legal dispute, surveillance video, blood evidence, a suspicious cart, and a victim whose body has never been found. Kosowski, 47, has waived his right to a jury and is representing himself, meaning Judge Joseph A. Bulone will ultimately determine whether the State has proven him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. 🏛️ COURTROOM Judge: Joseph A. Bulone Prosecution: Bruce Bartlett, Nathan Vonderheide, and Alexandra Spadaro Defendant: Tomasz Roman Kosowski — Pro Se Standby Counsel: Daniel Hernandez, Jane McNeill Special Counsel: John Nohlgren Background: On March 21, 2023, Cozzi, 41, disappeared from the Blanchard Law Firm in Largo, Florida. Investigators say a significant amount of blood was discovered in the law firm's bathroom along with evidence suggesting a violent attack had occurred. Prosecutors allege Kosowski entered the building that morning and later left while pulling a large cart. Investigators believe Cozzi's body was concealed inside. Authorities subsequently traced Kosowski's movements away from the law office as they attempted to determine what happened to Cozzi and where his remains may have been taken. At the time of Cozzi's disappearance, Kosowski was involved in a contentious lawsuit against his former employer, the Laufer Institute of Plastic Surgery. Cozzi represented defendants involved in that litigation, and prosecutors allege the legal dispute provided the motive for the killing. Kosowski was arrested several days after Cozzi disappeared. Although Cozzi's body has never been recovered, prosecutors contend that physical evidence, surveillance footage, digital evidence and Kosowski's movements before and after the disappearance establish what happened. Kosowski has pleaded not guilty and is currently in jail awaiting his trial. The State is seeking the death penalty. If Kosowski is convicted of first-degree murder, the case could proceed to a penalty phase to determine whether he will be sentenced to death or life in prison. #TomaszKosowski #StevenCozzi #KosowskiTrial #FloridaTrial #TrueCrime #TrialTVLive Trial TV Live is dedicated to bringing you real courtroom coverage. 📺 Live Trials.
