Denuvo sued the internet's most prolific game cracker, shipped a new version that shut down the hypervisor bypass, and held for 22 days. Then Phantom Blade Zero launched, and a group called ARTIFACT got through in about three hours.
This is the story of Denuvo's fall: what the lock actually sells (time), how the hypervisor bypass disguised a cracked PC as a licensed one, the lawsuit against voices38 and the subpoenas to Discord, Valve and Reddit, the cross-check in the October build, the paying players it locked out by mistake (WSL, Docker, Hyper-V), and who ends up carrying the lock.
A few details that have been going around, set straight:
voices38 never announced quitting. Their Reddit account was deleted on October 20, four days after the court approved the subpoenas.
The group that broke up was DenuvOwO, the hypervisor-bypass group.
ARTIFACT has been releasing since September 27, building on the code DenuvOwO released.
Phantom Blade Zero fell about three hours after launch, much faster than the "within a day" in early reports.
Nothing in this video explains how to pirate anything, and it never shows links, account IDs or wallets.
Did the October build stop a game you paid for from launching? Tell me which game and what you had running.
