Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti /1685-1757/ Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti (Naples, 26 October 1685 - Madrid, 23 July 1757) was an Italian harpsichordist and composer, active during the Baroque age. Chronologically, he is classified as a baroque composer, even though his music has been a reference in the development of the classical style, and known and admired by later, romantic musicians included. His most famous production, made after his transfer to Spain, consists of 555 sonatas for harpsichord, although he has written numerous works, sacred music, for chamber and organ "ensembles".
