D'Bootsy Bass Baby for guitar ensemble

D'Bootsy Bass Baby Darin Au, composer Score and Parts available from Productions d'Oz Preview Performance Classic Guitar Ensemble III 22 October 2022 Punahou School, Honolulu, Hawaii Floating around the internet is a video of the legendary bassist, Bootsy Collins, demonstrating his basic funk formula. The formula is held down by laying the root hard on beat one, then Bootsy says, "fit your different notes, what you felt, in between there." And that's the funk. While D'Bootsy Bass Baby isn't a funk song, it is a classical take on Bootsy's formula. D'Bootsy was composed for the 2022 NAfME All-National Honor Guitar Ensemble by request of Chuck Hulihan. The piece received its world premiere on November 5th, 2022 at the NAfME National Conference and All-National Honor Ensembles event. Special mahalo to Christopher Perez, Chair of the NAfME Guitar Council of Education and ANHE Guitar Ensemble Manager, for his encouragement and friendship.
