A man tells his wife, "Say you are my sister." Years later, his son tells the same lie. The Bible tells this story three times, and it shows what God does about the fear underneath it. If you have ever promised yourself you would never do it again, and then heard yourself doing it, this story was written down for you. This video reads Genesis 12, 20, and 26 slowly: why the lie was a standing arrangement and not a single slip, why the first time it seemed to pay, what God did while Abraham was out of the room, why a foreign king spoke with more moral clarity than the patriarch, and why God answered Isaac's failure with a short sentence about fear. Nothing here excuses the harm. It looks at where repeated failure starts, and at who was already there. 📖 Scripture referenced: Genesis 12:10-20; 20:1-18; 26:1-33; 46:3. Quotations are from the World English Bible (public domain). 📚 Outside sources mentioned: the Genesis Apocryphon (Dead Sea Scroll 1Q20); A Handbook on Genesis (United Bible Societies); the ESV Reformation Study Bible.
