What does it really take to live a Christ-centered life in a world that doesn't share our faith? In this message from Galatians 2:20, we follow the life cycle of a butterfly — egg, caterpillar, cocoon, new creation — as a living picture of spiritual transformation. The caterpillar only eats what the world throws in its path. But inside the cocoon, it dissolves completely, leaving no trace of its old self, and emerges as something entirely new. That is the invitation of the gospel: our old self crucified with Christ, and Christ living in us. Yet many of us live with one leg in the world and one leg in the kingdom, still distracted by screens, still held back by our past, still trapped in the cocoon of fear and doubt. Through four simple keys, this sermon walks us from the dirt to the sky — and asks an honest question: do you want to become a butterfly in two weeks, or in forty years? What you'll learn: The four keys to a Christ-centered life — crucify the flesh, let Christ reign, live by faith, and grow into who God made you to be Why "I have been crucified" is finished, not a process — and what grace looks like when your change feels slow instead of instant The context behind Galatians 2:20 — Paul's defense of salvation by faith alone against the circumcision group, and his confrontation with Peter How to set your mind on the Spirit rather than the flesh — without withdrawing from the world or becoming a monk Practical ways to prioritize Christ at the center: spiritual growth for yourself and your children, Sunday worship, church fellowship and events, and how you use your resources Why the Word of God is the "blueprint" of your new life — like the imaginal cells that shape the butterfly from the inside out Why God doesn't remove every trouble — the struggle out of the cocoon is what strengthens the wings for flight Why your past no longer defines you — you are a new creation in Christ The lesson of the 11-day journey that took 40 years — how faithlessness slows our growth, and how to shorten the distance Key verses: Galatians 2:20 — "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Luke 9:23 — "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." Romans 8:5-6 — "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires... The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace." 1 John 2:16 — "The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life." Matthew 6:33 — "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Psalm 145:15 — "The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time." John 14:16-17 — "I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth." John 15:4-5 — "If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit." Joshua 1:8 — "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night... Then you will be prosperous and successful." 2 Corinthians 5:17 — "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation." 2 Timothy 4:7 — "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Whether you're new to faith or have walked with Jesus for decades, this message will encourage you to set your mind on the Spirit, put God first, and keep fighting the good fight.
