Ypač įsimintina buvo 1988 metų šventė - tų metų birželį „Gaudeamus“ dalyviai Vilniuje pirmą kartą iškėlė tautines vėliavas, buvo sugiedoti Lietuvos, Latvijos ir Estijos tautiniai himnai...

The festival of 1988 was especially memorable. In June of that year, during “Gaudeamus” in Vilnius, participants raised national flags for the very first time, and the national anthems of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia resounded across the gathering. This symbolic act reflected the spirit of the Baltic Awakening, as the nations began to reclaim their identity and unity after decades of Soviet rule. Students of the Vilnius Conservatory actively joined the Path of Freedom, embodying the courage and determination that characterized the broader Sąjūdis movement — the grassroots force that would soon lead Lithuania toward independence.
